Colorado Coalition Against Gun Violence
OUR PURPOSE

A Collaborative Forum
CCAGV provides a forum for discussing, promoting, and where appropriate, endorsing, actions and legislative concepts.

A Unified Voice Against Gun Violence
CCAGV serves as a means to have a unified voice among many organizations and partners working to reduce and eliminate gun violence, across the state of Colorado, but also as a guiding voice in the nation.

A Communication Tool
CCAGV serves as a communication vehicle for sharing activities and strategies of the various groups that comprise CCAGV.
OUR WORK

Legislation
The Coalition supports passing evidence-based legislation that works on reducing gun violence and blocking those pieces of legislation that weaken Colorado’s gun laws. To this end, we work on initiatives when appropriate that achieve these aims. In addition, the Coalition works to endorse a legislative platform on behalf of members, as well as collecting and reporting on research that assists in the goal of identifying and passing said legislation.

Political Action
Members have the opportunity to share their individual organization’s efforts to support initiatives and elected officials who support and sponsor legislation to reduce gun violence.

Community and Stakeholder Engagement
In order to enact change, we need to build constituencies actively engaged in and advocating for policy change. The Coalition sees a path to this through targeted outreach to communities impacted by gun violence, engaging those interested in and motivated to reduce the prevalence of gun violence, and by building support and collaboration for such efforts.

Complementary Strategies
The Coalition identifies and pursues other influential and complementary strategies to reduce gun violence (e.g. stopping the advertising of illegal gun sales)

Education
CCAGV engages in education strategies, if needed, to complement individual member efforts, including the promotion of public awareness about the need for reducing gun violence through:
• Development of unified core messaging
• Use of social media
• Sponsoring or Co-sponsoring special events
